Bright red Sockeye Salmon can be seen spawning in this over & under view of a clean Alaskan lake. The algae has been cleared away from the gravel nest, called a Redd. Pacific salmon are semelparous or die after spawning. While the picture looks easy, I had to take special care not to disturb the gravel bottom where the salmon were depositing their eggs in the scraped out Redds. Sockeye are scarlet red bodies & Green heads while breeding. Pacific salmon is semelparous (dies after spawning).
