Add to LightboxThe juvenile Puget Sound King Crabs (Echidnocerus cibarius) are a very colorful red and orange but become less so as they grow. This one has clasped the shell of some mollusk, perhaps a limpet which it is eating. They are found in waters at least 450 feet deep. They were previously classified as Lopholithodes mandtii.
