Green Tortise Shell JMC_4385r
Add to LightboxThe endangered Green sea turtles are now protected. Once they were hunted for food and for their beautiful shells which were made into hair, body ornaments and the like. Even today, plastic barrettes are made to imitate those once made from turtles. Green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) grow to four feet long and up to 700 pounds.
