DSC_6844FLatn_Pastel Seastars.jpg
Add to LightboxThis is a pastel arrangement of Northern Sea Stars (Asterias rubens) feeding on algae and barnacles. I find sea stars to be so pretty, I can't not take their photo. These are a common boreal sea star. The pale yellow-white spot, called a Madreporite, distinguishes this type from others. In addition, there is a more obvious ridge of spines down each arm.
