Horseshoe Crab Shed DSC_7505J
Add to LightboxThe small, discarded molt or shell of a Horseshoe Crab (Limulus Polyphemus) is a delicate find on a Cape Cod Beach. It is transparent, with no animal inside. A Horseshoe crab is an arthropod related to Arachnid such as scorpions and the spider family. It is an ancient animal which people have threatened. They are harmless and beneficial in the medical sciences. Refer to my DELMARVA gallery for more information and images.
