Acadian Hermit crab pair, front view UWNE

After a series of repeated movements and claw taps, a female Hermit Crab extends her tail almost entirely out of her shell, exposing eggs for fertilization (assumed). Part of series.
As an aside, this was my first time out with my newly acquired second hand underwater housing with a Nikon N80 film camera. I was not used to the equipment, and the subject was challenging because they were so small, the size of my thumbnail. Prior to that I had used the Nikonos V film cameras which are range-finders, and focusing on something so small require the use of a physical "framer" to be placed around the animal to accurately judge the focal distance. Friends told me once I shifted to an SLR in a housing my work would be easier and more successful. Yet, I have many good images from the Nikonos days.
