The "Box" at Lake Quittacas

Lake Quittacas is part of the Assawompsett Lake Complex, consisting of Great Quittacas, Little Quittacas, Assawampsett and Pocsha ponds. All are public water supply reservoirs for the cities of Taunton and New Bedford. Long pond is part of the protected natural area of this complex. several rare species live here. It is the spawning habitat for an important river herring population.
