Shearwater running on Water JMC_5735DYC1x3
Add to LightboxThe Great Shearwater (Ardenna gravis) is one of the largest shearwaters at a 18" body length and a 44" wingspan. This seabird has a black-capped head with a white collar. As you can see here, they run on the water as they take off. The smaller Manx Shearwater is similar in looks to the Audubon's Shearwater, also seen in the North Atlantic.
