Stoplight Parrotfish Talking JMC_2413FLATCircle
Add to LightboxThis is a circular version of a Stoplight Parrotfish (Sparisoma viride) which appears to be talking with a Smile. I sometimes title this one "Be Happy!" This is the initial or midlife color phase of the stoplight parrotfishes, but they change color when older to predominantly aqua blue. They also change in other ways, being protogynous hermaphrodites that exemplify full sexual dichromatism, changing its sex from female to male during its lifespan. The blue-green terminal phase stoplight parrotfish are male. This one could be female or male.
