During the fall rut, White-tailed bucks risk being seen so as to stand guard over a female mate. This stag overlooks the blue North Atlantic Ocean in Rhode Island as the sun moves low behind him. Golden hour light causes the field of dried wildflowers to almost glow. A female deer eats nearby.
