Shorthorn Sculpin 102-UWNE_©JMacCausland .jpg
Add to LightboxShorthorn Sculpin (Myoxocephalus scorpius) is very difficult to distinguish from the Longhorn Sculpin, and this one is still a fairly small specimen. The top "horn over the gill plate is relatively even spaced between it and the lower "horns". Sculpins are bottom dwellers, depending on camouflage and spikes for defense. They live off of other marine animals they encounter along the sea bed.
