Yellow Lotus, Ohio.

American Lotus (Nelumbo luteaare) are huge, yellow waterlilies native to Florida. The American lotus is an aquatic perennial plant having large round leaves, dramatic yellow flowers, and brown rattle-like seed pods. Just as the white, Fragrant Waterlily, they open in the morning light and close in the late day. Unlike the Fragrant Waterlily, they rise on stalks above water level.
