Add to LightboxBoring Sponge (Cliona celata) has settled onto the rock wall between Spiraled Tufted Bryozoans (Bugula turrita) in the Narraganset Bay, Rhode Island. Boring Sponges can wreck havoc with a shellfish bed by attaching to and dissolving the shell.
