Washington Slagbaai National Park The Washington Slagbaai National Park is located in the north-western end of Bonaire. Once two plantations, Washington & Slagbaai, it totals nearly 14,000 acres. They once supplied salt, charcoal, aloe extract, divi-divi pods, and goats for export to Curaçao and Europe. Now the aloe plants, or Century Plants, grow wild and healthy. The goats have gone feral an the government is eradicating them and the wild donkeys. Te park has visiting hours which are limited to a normal work day, and the dirt loop drive is slow and rough, hence getting sunrise and sunset photographs is impossible for most people.
