A stately polar bear (Ursus maritimus) crosses a frozen, snow-covered pond on the tundra in Manitoba, Canada. A soft winter sun lights his side. Glacial gravel debris and sedentary rocks make an interesting background. Due to a warming climate, Polar Bears are declared Threatened under the Endangered Species Act 2008.
