Leather Sea Star BCUW©JMC070AS
Add to LightboxA Leather Sea Star (Dermasterias imbricata) crawls along dark bull kelp underwater in British Columbia, Canada. There are many kinds of sea stars off Vancouver Island, and they all have different colorations and textures. This orange one has a blotchy appearance with nodes giving it a fuzzy look. I have included see the close-up image of the skin on the following page.
