Tiny Limpets cling to the granite coast of Maine. Limpets are in the mollusk phylum. They are like snails that don't move much. Limpets and snails are both in the class Gastropoda. Because of their stationary habit, there anatomy is a bit different than snails. Their shells are flatter, with a drainage hole. They grow to 1 1/2" in the longest diameter. They live in the tidal zone, and can hang on very tightly.
