I am pleased this image of local concern was included in the juried Plymouth Art Center, MA. show "The Art of Photography" 2023. I call it "Perseverance". The migratory Alewife, or River Herring, continue to decline in numbers.
River Herring persevering the current. Alewife (Alosa pseudoharengus), members of the herring family (Clupea), are migrating upstream for their annual spawning. These are an anadromous fish, which spend most of their lives at sea, but return to spawn in their native river. They are not the same species as the Atlantic Herring which live out their lives in the ocean.
