Pilot fish in RI at night won "Best Cold Water Photograph, Old Colony Amphibians Dive Club, 2007. Pilot fish frequently travel along side the heads of sharks and pelagic fishes, appearing to lead the way. This one lost its host which likely came north to Rhode Island on the summer's Gulf Stream. The pilot fish found me instead and began circling me. I had to spin around and around to photograph it.
