Add to LightboxA young Hake fish sits takes cover under a flexible Moon Snail egg collar on a Massachusetts beach. Hake is a coveted deep-sea fish in the same order as cod fish (Gadiformes) and haddock. Adults averaging up to 8 pounds (3.63 kg) but can grow to 60 pounds (27 kg), and a meter in length. They are know to live as long as 14 years.
