RI Seahorse in Hand 1_B&W ©JMacCausland.tif
Add to Lightbox DownloadWhen I started diving, it was OK to gently touch the sea life. As a curious child I certainly did, and that is why I took up SCUBA. I placed this seahorse back where I found it. Sea horses form small colonies, and are slow swimmers, clinging to holdfasts, so it is best not to disturb them. People generally thought these to be a tropical creature, but these Lined Seahorses (Hippocampus erectus) live year round in the south coast of New England, so please leave them there. They do not survive well in captivity.
