Called Dead-mans fingers because of their appearance when they wash ashore on beaches, they look like swollen, fleshy digits of a hand. when alive, they are feathery and delicate. They are found from the Saint Laurence to southern New England. They Like cold water and low light from the Artic to Rhode Island and Europe's colder areas.
