Add to LightboxA Cooper's Hawk conserves his energy by sitting still on a branch while looking for prey in the winter. They are successful hunters around suburban bird feeders. Cooper's hawk is a medium-sized Hawk, but a large for an Accipiter. A Cooper's hawk (Accipiter cooperii) resembles a Northern Harriers.
