This Red Fox kit is about 4 months old and playing with a dead vole. He tossed it around, catching it, then burying it and recovering it. Red Foxes prey largely on small rodents but will take an animal up to 7 1/2 pounds or so, or a weak animal. Foxes are nocturnal but Red Foxes are more Crepuscular, allowing for easier photography.
"Red foxes seem to dislike the taste of moles but will nonetheless catch them alive and present them to their kits as playthings."[39]:41Macdonald, David (1987). Running with the Fox. Unwin Hyman, London. ISBN 9780044401995. (41)
