Dragonfly Pair Joined JMC_5479ASCsq_resample.jpg
Add to LightboxThis pair of dragonflies (Odonate) are in the wheel position used for mating. I believe they are Eastern Amberwings (Perithemis tenera). Their body length is about an inch. They have perched on a Pickerelweed flower (Pontederia cordata). Dragonflies are indiscriminate predators of many insects such as mosquitoes, flies, wasps and others, and so very important in the ecosystem.
