Three Urchins Reflected ©JMacCausland'09_222CSQ
Add to LightboxSea Urchins are classified with the echinoderms, and are related to sea stars. They are found the world over, in many varieties. The tines, or shells, are very thin and delicate. They can be easily broken. The live animal has many moveable spikes, which would stem from the bumps seen on these. You can see images of the live animals in my Echinoderm Gallery.
