A Hooded Nudibranch (Melibe leonina) Back View
Add to LightboxThis translucent Hooded nudibranch or Lion nudibranch (Melibe leonina) has a distinctive and pleasant scent of a fresh lemon. It clings to kelp in calm bays, but also can swim by undulation. The Hood closes & opens to feed. A tiny mollusk, a striped snail, crawls nearby on the kelp. This was Semi Finalist in Natures Best Oceans Contest 2015,
