This Lionfish (Pterois) on a North Carolina Shipwreck is an invasive species. This is an early arrival of what has become an increasingly common alien from the South Pacific. It has venomous spines which makes it unlikely prey for most other marine animals. This is an image made on Tri X film, pre digital.
