Garibaldi Reef Scene, Catalina
Add to LightboxAn orange Garibaldi in a Catalina Island reef scene off Casino Point, with colorful, delicate coral Cnidarian in the foreground. Garibaldi are the California state fish. Water temperatures range from 70°F (21°C) in the summer to the high 50's° in the winter. This image was made in January, and I was diving in a wet suit. Visibility was good, better than an average of 40ft. I took the Catalina Express ferry from Dana Point, Long Beach. Garibaldi are the state fish of California and impossible to miss on your dive off Casino Point.
