Pika Gathering Grass West7B_1249JSQ.

A mountain Pika is gathering grass for the winter. They live in the mountain tops of the Rockies where the air is cold. Because of climate warming, they are loosing habitat and are threatened. When alarmed they sound a high pitched squeak to alert others of pending danger. They are closely related to rabbits. They have no tail. "The pika is also known as the "whistling hare" for its high-pitched alarm call when diving into its burrow." - Wikipedia. However, I would not have seen this little rabbit relative had it not let out a hardy, shrill squeak.
