Chick with Beach Tar on his Feathers DSC_7648DYC

Within a few days of hatching, this endangered Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus) chick has gotten oil beach tar attached to its feathers. It may continue to gather debris. Hopefully it will fall off before doing severe damage or before it is ingested. There is an ever-present quantity of crude oil on our beaches.
