Add to LightboxA Stoplight Parrotfish (Sparisoma viride), Family: Scaridae, is chomping and eating algae impregnated coral, and converting the reef to sand in the process. This behavior exemplifies the role Parrotfish play in the reef ecosystem. This was on the Wreck of Washington, off Key Largo, Florida. They grow to 1 to 2 feet. Stoplight Parrotfish have pretty Blue, orange and brown patterned skin.
