Hooded Nudibranch (Melibe leoni) BC©JMC_036-30
Add to LightboxThis translucent Hooded nudibranch or Lion nudibranch (Melibe leonina) clings to kelp in calm bays, but also can swim by undulation as seen here. It folds its body down the center & curls side to side. If removed from the water, they have a distinctive and pleasant scent of a fresh lemon. This is a front view of this small marine animal.
