Red Flabellina Nudibranch, Nanaimo ©JMacCausland BCUW_DSC_7353FLC
Add to LightboxA Red Flabellina Nudibranch (Flabellina triophina) rides an old piece of Bull Kelp along with other small snail mollusks. The Red Flabellina is delicate, reaching less than 5 inches. The gills, or frilly cerata, are continuous rather than grouped or all over. It resembles the Red-gilled Nudibranch which I am familiar with as it occurs in New England as well as in the North Pacific, but is distinctly red.
