Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) AZ_015CDY
Add to LightboxA Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) waits it's turn at the carcass of an Elk in Arizona. The Elk was likely road kill we passed on the ride north to the Grand Canyon's southern rim. Vultures are finding life a challenge because Keystone predators are nearly gone. They depend on predators to open the chest cavity of prey.
