Add to LightboxThis lovely Lined Jelly, or Many-Ribbed Hydromedusa (Aeqorea forskalea) was about 7" in diameter, and free swimming in Gloucester, Massachusetts during the summer. This image was made with film, and the colors have not been altered, though the general appearance of these medusa is one of transparency, with only a tint of color. It locomotes by contraction of the bowl-shaped bell.
