A single strobe light accentuates the texture of this Blood Stars regular but pebbly skin. They have five arms and range in shades of deep red to white. They are a very pretty animal growing to 4" on the Atlantic Coast. This one is feeding on a sponge, but they also absorb nutrients via their porous skin. greenish-tan Crumb of Bread Sponge (Halichondria panicea) is on the bottom.
