A Diver & Giant Black Coral Whip or Wire Coral (Cirrhipathes spiralis)
Add to Lightbox DownloadA SCUBA diver searches for small creatures on a Giant Black Coral Whip. Wire Coral (Cirrhipathes spiralis) is a deeper water coral which grows as a spiral, out form the wall in a singular fashion. I have seen them in the Maldives and in Fiji. You can see the individuals in this macro image. It is not classified with Soft Corals: Subclass Hexacoralia V/S soft octocralia.
