A Winter Skate hides under a blanket of seaweed in Newfoundland, CA. The nose is rounded. The kite-shaped body is wider than its length. The skin is thorny, and there are thorns down the dorsal spine. This one was almost three feet wide. The tail end had Two dorsal fins.
