Manatee Propeller Scars ©JMC_082.
Add to LightboxThe tail of a West Indian Manatee (Trichechus manatus) shows scarring from a motorboat propeller. Manatees, being mammals, must surface to breath and are docile and slow to maneuver out of the way of fast-moving boats; resulting in sometimes deadly collisions. Manatee is scared by a motorboat propeller.
