Swallow & Arches DYC_2151DYC
Add to LightboxAn uncommon Northern Rough-winged Swallow (Stelgidopteryx serripennis) rests on a branch near a dam on Bear Lake on the Idaho Wyoming border. Arches reflect sunlight onto the water in a soft background blur of sage green and blue gray. This species summers in North America, migrating south in the winter. I composed this image while using the RV as a blind, asking my partner to move the vehicle until I was lined up. The telephoto allowed me to not disturb the bird too much. It continued to fly over the water feeding on insects.
