Atlantic White-sided Dolphins are gregarious marine mammals often seen in the temperate, offshore waters bow jumping or feeding with Humpback Whales. Atlantic white-sided dolphins are carnivorous piscivores. feeding on sand lance, herring, smelt, hake, shrimp or squid. They prefer cold water. They are similar looking as the common dolphin though the Atlantic white-sided dolphin does not have the hourglass coloration. They range from North America, the UK and Russia. They live a quarter of a century. Currently Atlantic white-sided dolphins are classified as Least Concern (LC) on the IUCN Red List. None the less the dolphins suffer from hunting and drowning from entanglement in fishing gear. Environmental changes and pollution are also a threat.
