Birds dot our world with color and wondrously entertaining activity. They have evolved into many forms to negotiate every climate and environment on earth. Therefore, I have made several galleries to house some of my images of birds. The "Bird Favorites" Gallery is comprised of images from the other Gallery categories within this "Birds" collection. I first bought a 400 mm zoom lens for photographing whales, but found it fun to capture images of birds, and ducks have become one of my favorite subjects. I love their bold patterns and odd shapes, and the play of water reflections partners well with their plumage. -

What many don't realize is that hummingbirds also eat lots of insects, and insecticides pose a threat to these little birds we love so much, Hummers" have recently been regrouped with swifts and nocturnal birds such as frogmouths into the heading of Strisores. -
